Senior SAP Storage Engineer
This critical Senior SAP Storage Engineer position within Global Solutions Operations will have the responsibility to design, deploy, and maintain the storage infrastructure for Enterprise SAP solution environments in the GSO Customer Integration Labs. The Storage Engineer should have extensive experience working with EMC storage systems especially focused on Symmetrix and CLARiiON platforms as well as extensive experience with Storage Area Network (SAN) design and administration. Expertise in presenting and managing the storage for SAP databases on Unix/Linux and Windows platforms is also required. A thorough understanding of EMC data protection and replication technologies and applications is critical for this position. An understanding of database storage requirements, management and backup are a plus as is an understanding of SAP applications and processes as they relate to storage issues.
Duties:
Initialize and configure Symmetrix and CLARiiON storage systems for use in SAP environments.
Allocate storage to Windows, Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Linux hosts through Fibre Channel zoning and masking.
Document the storage layout for heterogeneous environments.
Configure and manage data protection technologies at the storage level and at the host level.
Assist with the creation of SAP solution documents by providing storage-related information – layout, allocation, protection techniques, and diagrams.
Education:
BS Technical Degree in engineering, computer science or related discipline
5+ years of EMC Storage management experience.
Skills:
Expertise in EMC Storage platforms focusing on Symmetrix and CLARiiON.
Expertise with various Unix (HP-UX, AIX, Solaris), Linux, and Windows operating systems as it pertains to external SAN-based storage.
Experience with one or more EMC data protection applications including TimeFinder, SRDF, MirrorView, RecoverPoint, Replication Manager is desired.
Expertise with Fibre Channel SANs including zoning and device masking.
Experience with Cisco Fibre Channel switches a plus.
Experience with databases (Oracle, DB2, MS SQL) a plus.
Experience with SAP systems a big plus.
Ability to Multi task and at the same time provide quality deliverables.
Good customer service and communication skills (oral and written).
Excellent trouble shooting and problem solving skills. |
